 The Wode Worm of Linton was a monstrous worm from North England but was slain with the aid of some peat.

The hero managed to stave its rampaging in the region by attacking it and, whilst its mouth was open, shoving a burning block of peat down its throat. Once lit, peat is very difficult to extinguish, and the worm burned to death from inside.

在北英格蘭的傳說中，The Wode Worm of Linton是一條令人恐懼的龍，但是他卻被泥炭殺死。

一位英雄試圖用戰鬥來阻止它在這個地區的肆虐行為，他成功地讓它的嘴張開，他把一些燃燒着的泥炭塊推進它的咽喉中。泥炭塊一旦點燃，就很難撲滅的。於是它被這些泥炭活活燒死。
